Speaker Profile
Ussal Şahbaz is the founder of Ussal Danışmanlık, a consultancy firm specializing in public relations and innovation. Until 2018, he served as the Turkey Innovation Director for General Electric (GE), where he established one of the eight global innovation centers in Istanbul. Previously, during Turkey's G20 presidency in 2015, he managed the Business 20 and Think 20 groups. From 2011 to 2014, he established the innovation policies program at TEPAV (Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey).
In the early years of his career, Ussal Şahbaz worked as a specialist at the Competition Authority and also provided consultancy services to the World Bank in Washington, D.C. He holds a master's degree in international development from Harvard University, as well as master's and bachelor's degrees in economics from Bilkent University and Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ), respectively. Ussal Şahbaz also contributes to Dünya Gazetesi with his weekly articles on technology, society, and politics, and his weekly newsletter reaches an audience of 7,000 people, covering the same topics.
