Speaker Profile
Tulga was trained as a mechanical engineer at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) where also completed his post-graduate studies in Mechanics and Civil Engineering. After having employed by MIT as an academic he became the Research and Development Manager at DRD Corporation in the USA. Tulga was an entrepreneur for ten years upon returning to his home country Turkey. At the end of this period he was hired as General
Manager and over the years he bore the titles below:

Member of Board of Trustees, Vestel
General Manager Lucent Technologies Turkey
General Manager HP Turkey
Currently he carries on his professional career as an independent member of Board of Trustees and as a consultant for strategic management. He runs educational seminars and strategy workshops for the companies which have him as the Board member.
According to Sahin Tulga, management is supposed to gain competitive advantage by utilizing finance, information, organization, physical aspects, relations and human resources of the firm and to turn this advantage into performance. The management can do this by a coherent and clever strategic management process. Tulga’s way of thinking provided the companies to grow much more than they were expected while he worked as a General Manager for them.
Sahin Tulga has some views about professional life. He says:
“One important task of upper level managers in all companies is to train leaders. The quality of the Manager is determined by the quality of those who are working for him/her”.
He recommends the firms to mold theory with practicality and to work with a focus on process. That way, in his own words “When something goes wrong you do not blame individuals but the process” Tulga offers a solution when a problem occurs but he picks the best solution with his team. Tulga’s definition of ideal working environment is as follows; “You need to create an environment where there is no fear of the Boss and everybody does their job the best way they can. If one of the employees thinks like “Damn, it’s Sunday night and I’ve got to go to work tomorrow”, then you did not do a good job as a manager.
Sahin Tulga’s colorful and entertaining personality comes through his speech and his lectures. He explains the theory with a lot of practical examples. He talks about concepts such as leadership and strategic management while going through the models which he created himself.
