Kursat Basar was born in 1963 in İstanbul. Graduating from Istanbul University, the Philosophy Department, the author completed his master’s degree in the same university. He started his life as a journalist in the Hürriyet Newspaper.

He was a columnist, editor and executive in publications such as Hürriyet Gösteri, Güneş, Aktüel, Tempo, Yeni Yüzyıl, Star, Akşam, Cumhuriyet.

He did radio programming at TRT FM, Power FM ve PowerXL. Stepping into television in TRT, Kürşat Başar undertook the creation and production of programs named “Tempo” at Kanal 6, “Her Şey Yolunda” at Star TV, “Başka Yerde Yok” at Cine 5, “Kürşat Başar’la…” at Kanaltürk, and “Kürşat Başar’la Yaz Sohbetleri” at CNN Turk.

Kursat Basar, the author of the books “Kış İkindisinin Evinde”, “Konuştuğumuz Gibi Uzaklara”, “Sen Olsaydın Yapmazdın Biliyorum”, “Aşkı Bulmanın ve Korumanın Yolları”, “İğreti Yaşamlar”, “Başucumda Müzik”, “Doğan Hızlan: Bir Roman Kahramanı”, “Çok Güldük Ağlamayalım” is one of the most followed writers in Turkey.

Playing the tenor and soprano saxophone, the artist brought a different framework to his musical adventure with the jazz version of memorable songs, by coming together with the most important voices of Turkey in his first album named “Keşke Burda Olsaydın” ( Wish you were here) with the Esen Entertainment label.
