After completing her primary, secondary and high school education at TED Ankara College Fulya Akbuğa graduated from Ankara University’s Faculty of Communication, Department of Journalism.
During her internship, she worked as a reporter at Hürriyet Newspaper and Kent TV. She completed her Master's Degree in the Middle East Technical University (METU), Department of Sociology.
She started her professional broadcasting career as a DJ at Capital Radio in 1996. She then worked as the Program Director at Radio METU and presented the popular show "Ofis Kaçkını".
She started her television career with "Ezgi Günü" -a live music program- broadcasted on TRT in 2002. She hosted educational programs like "Üniversitem" on TRT 2 and "Yarışalım Eğlenelim" - a kids show- on TRT1.
She also worked as a newscaster and program presenter at Kanal B television in the years 2004-2005. She took lectures from doyens of the TV industry such as Jülide Gülizar, Gülgûn Feyman and Rahmi Aygün.
Returning to Radio METU in 2005, she continued her career as the Training Coordinator. She organized workshops about “Public Speaking” and “Broadcasting”, as well.
In 2009, she took place in TRT Türk's first broadcast team as one of the presenters and editors of the morning news program, “Haberdar”. In the same year, she prepared and presented the talk show "Şehrin Nabzı" (Pulse of the City) that is broadcasted on TRT Radio Ankara.
Between 2010 and 2013, she hosted the daily talk-show program "Stüdyo Avaz" on TRT Avaz, which was broadcasted live every weekday. The program continued under the name of “Yaz Sohbetleri” (Summer Talks) during the Summer seasons.
Akbuğa won the "Best Radio DJ" award at the METU Media Awards in 2011 and 2012.
During the years 2014-2015, she hosted sport programs "Spora Dair" and "Sporun Merkezi" that are broadcasted live on TRT’s Sports Channel every weekday.
She interviewed hundreds of names from the world of science, politics, arts, and sports on her radio and television programs, throughout her career.
She gave lectures in the fields of "Radio and Television Speaking Techniques" and "Radio Broadcasting" for the students of the Faculty of Communication.
From 2016 to 2017, she hosted the news program called "Dışa Bakış" on TRT's News Radio. In 2019, she hosted the TV program
“Ne Yapmalı?” prepared for Turkish Citizens living abroad, on TRT Türk Channel.
In 2021, she presented the health programme "Sağlıklı Günler" on TRT Avaz.
Fulya Akbuğa is working at Ankara University with the title of Lecturer, continuing her doctoral studies in the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema. Akbuğa also gives "Public Speaking" lectures in many institutions and hosts national and international organizations as an MC. She has a book titled “Konuşmaktan Korkmuyorum” (“Not Afraid to Speak”)
