Speaker Profile

Fatos Karahasan is an associate professor at Bilgi University where she teaches Marketing Communication, Advertising and Digital marketing. In addition, she is a columnist in Milliyet, one of the major daily newspapers in Turkey, and in Capital, a monthly magazine on finance, business and management. As a brand management consultant, she leads major advertising agency pitches, product launch, and brand strategy projects. She lectures, runs workshops, and manages research projects for major local and international companies. She started her career in 1989, as the new Business Director at Guzel Sanatlar Saatchi&Saatchi Advertising Agency in Istanbul, where she worked until 2000. While at Saatchi&Saatchi, she handled advertising for clients like Procter&Gamble, Fiat, Philips, Arçelik, Milliyet, Radikal, Posta, Beko, Toys ‘R Us, Kent, Alarko, HP, British Airways, BAT, as a Group Account Director, Deputy Managing Director and after 1995 as Managing Director. Between 2000-2002 she worked as CEO in D’Arcy Istanbul. In 2002, she decided to continue her career as a Consultant.

In the last 10 years, she has done brand management projects for local companies in the FMCG, Publishing, Furniture, Paints, Internet and Finance sectors.

She is a public speaker on marketing and management issues. She has been touring Anatolia with Capital and Ekonomist’s “Anatolian Brands Project” and lecturing to entrepreneurs. She also works as a moderator and Master of Ceremony at major conferences. Fatoş Karahasan is the author of hundreds of articles in newspapers and magazines. She has translated 2 books from French into Turkish, on advertising and political marketing. She has published a book entitled “How to Avoid Mediocre Advertising?” Her new book “The Rules of Digital Marketing” is to be published within the next couple of months.

She is a graduate of Maine Township High School West, Ill. and Hacettepe University, Ankara. She carried out her doctorate research at Manchester University. She is also a graduate of Université de Paris-Sorbonne, Universita’ per Stranieri Siena (and Perugia) programmes.

She is a member of ROK, a self-regulatory organization of Turkish Advertising Industry.
