Speaker Profile
Deniz Bagriacik started her francophone education at the age of 11 at Sainte Pulchérie French Secondary School and continued at Saint Benoit French High School.
After her graduation, she studied sociology at Galatasaray University. She completed her master's degree with an orientation in economics and sociology of work and graduated from the University of Geneva. She received her PhD in Sociology from Sorbonne, University of Paris in November 2021 with her studies on the transmission of poverty over generations and sustainability goals. Bagriacik is the head of the department of social psychology at the Faculty of Communication of Iscom in Paris for 2023-2024 and lectures in sociology and social psychology. Bagriacik, who prepared programs on sustainability lifestyle on Beinconnect Iz TV and Habitat TV, produced a new program called "Sustainable Biz program" on Iz TV. Regularly commenting on social events on French and Turkish news channels, Bagriacik continues to write various articles and articles in different media such as T24, Oksijen, AA news agency.
During her time at the university, she took part in the preparation of the United Nations' development indexes in countries and in research on political preferences in nursing homes. While completing her master's degree, she started her first career in private banking at Credit Europe. In 2011, she moved to New York.
She started writing her articles on gender and sustainable development, which she prepared by following current events, for a local newspaper in New York. Her articles were later published in "Cumhuriyet", "Birgün", "Istanbul Art News", "Harvard Business Review", "ElleFrance", Varlık Magazine. He continued his columns on the T24 news website. In 2017, Bağrıaçık published her first book, "Sorsana Bizi Sevmiş mi (Sorsana Bizi Sevmiş mi)", which tells the view of foreigners in Turkey. While continuing his columns in his professional life, he assumed the project leadership of JP Morgan Foundation in Turkey.
Affected by the situation of children in an orphanage in Dar Es Salaam, which he visited for his doctoral thesis, Bağrıaçık carried out various activities for children. When she discovered the existence of their families, she wanted to make documentaries to inform more people about what was happening.
When the Water Rises (2019) won the best director award at the International Indian Film Festival. Portraits of Zanzibar (a short documentary) was invited to festivals in Rome, Sorento, Moscow, Toronto, Toronto, Amsterdam, New York, Sweden, Preston, England, London and was a finalist.
She continued her work in the field of social entrepreneurship with the MAISHA ethical fashion brand she founded in Paris in 2019, turned this brand into a social production company, and turned it into a social production company in 2022. During the pandemic, she organized a donation campaign on behalf of TEGV by organizing conversations with well-known people in their fields. Studio 22 contributed to the 1-year education of more than 100 children with its guests Prof. Dr. Ali Ergur, Prof. Dr. Yasemin Giritli İnceoğlu, Gündüz Vassaf, Soli Özel and artists Esra Zeynep Yücel and Evrencan Gündüz.
Bağrıaçık, whose passion for art started at a very young age, studied theater at Müjdat Gezen and piano at Pera Fine Arts. She also studied presenting at Başkent Communication Sciences. While she enjoys sports and yoga, Bağrıaçık has a great passion for animals, especially dogs, and one of her biggest passions is morning coffee.
